Painting Horses for Warhammer Part 3: Chestnut

With all the madness surrounding the new Space Marine release I’ve lacked the time to bring this tutorial sooner but finally here it is. This tutorial looks at painting Chestnut coloured horses for Warhammer.

We start with a basecoat of Rhinox Hide (GW Base)

The we apply a coat of Doombull Brown (GW Layer)

The next step is to apply a layer of Tuskgor Fur (GW Layer) This is just so the next colour we apply will appear smoother and cover better with a single coat.

Our final layer is of Deathclaw Brown (GW Layer)

This is then given a wash of Agrax Earthshade to create the shadows. (GW Shade)

I painted the mane with a couple of thin coats of Skraag Brown which was then given a wash of Agrax Earthshade. The hooves were painted with a couple of thin layers of Screaming Skull (GW Layer)
