Using Citadel Effect Paints...

I have had the new Citadel Effect Paints since release day and I’ve been trying them out on a couple of models I’ve been working on so I could share my experiences with them. I will do a quick run down on each of them one by one and give my opinion on each of them. Agrellan Earth This is the paint I anticipated the most as I have recently started Tomb Kings so thought this would be great for their basing. I’m torn when it comes to this paint. I am very pleased with the end result but the paint isn’t as easy to use as it’s made out to be. In order to get a good crackle effect you need a thick layer of paint which makes it hard to get a consistent layer over the whole base. The result is patches where areas have large cracks than others and in some places there might be no cracks at all. Those areas I decided to cover with rocks and a bit of static grass. It’s not a huge deal as I would have added these anyway to give the bases a bit more character. On the larger base I added an undead horse. Blood for the Blood God Personally I’m not a great fan of having blood on my weapons but for certain armies it can look good. I decided to try this out on the claws of my Defiler and I’m really happy with the results. I applied it to the model in the same manner that I would paint on blood usually by doing streaks of paint from the edge of the blade inwards.
