Konrad Curze

I’ve been really terrible lately in regards to updating this blog. I’ve been painting many different things lately and I will try to post as much as I can remember to. You can of course always head on down to the Bitzbox Instagram page where I share most of my painted minis. The latest Primarch model in my collection that I’ve painted is Konrad...

Roboute Guilliman

I have almost all of the primarch models from Forgeworld but until now have never painted any of them. I decided to start with Roboute Guilliman as I really love his model and I wanted to try a marble effect on the base. Some of the colour transition on the base got lost to the lighting when I took these photos. I’m hoping to get a better camera oin the near...

Eldar Exodites Carmine Dragon Wraithknight...

I’ve been looking for something to use as a wraithknight for my Eldar Exodites army for sometime now and finally decided on the superb Carmine Dragon model from Forgeworld. I kept the conversion work simple by just adding the weapons and a few armour plates as I wanted to keep as much of the original model as possible as I’m such a fan of it. I know exodites mainly use dinosaurs instead of dragons but I thought for my army I will use dragons to represent the ‘wraith’ elements. I already have plans for a hemlock wraithfighter from the High Elf Dragon. In regards to painting this model, I wasn’t really sure at first what colour to paint it but it was suggested to me that I try white or light grey which I liked the thought of. It makes the model stand out from the rest of the army and I will most likely use the same colours for the other dragon...

Forgeworld Calas Typhon

I’ve had the model of Calas Typhon from the Forgeworld Horus Heresy collectors series sitting around for a while now. After watching a tutorial about painting a white marble effect I wanted to try it out myself so I used this model to experiment on. I’m really happy with the end result on the armour. Once the armour was completed I managed to paint the rest of him fairly quickly. There’s a lot of details on this model and it’s base but most of it is either armour or metal which made painting him a lot...

Eldar Exodites Dread Saurian – Scorpion Super Heavy Tank...

Updates have been a little slow recently due to me working on one of the largest models I have ever had the pleasure to paint. This is a Forgeworld Dread Saurian that I have added some Eldar parts and weapons to so it can be used as a Scorpion Super Heavy Tank for my Eldar Exodites army. This is so big that I had to use a warhammer fantasy movement tray for his base. The basecoats for the skin and the large horns were airbrushed with some glazes and drybrushing applied after. The rest of the model was painted by brush. I tried to use as few colours as I could get away with for something so large but I kept the Eldar additions orange to match the rest of the armies...

Kakophoni Noise Marines

Here is a small Noise Marine squad converted from the Forgeworld Emperors Children Kakophoni models (which are essentially early Noise Marines). The champions was converted from a model from the Palatine Blades set with a few bits and pieces added. The Blastmaster was converted by adding a finecast Sonic Blaster onto the end of the Cacophony...

Imperial Fist Breacher Siege Squad...

Another squad from my small Heresy Era Imperial Fists Army. This is a breacher squad. It uses a mix of the Forgeworld Breacher Squad Marines and some Mark III armoured marines with boarding shields. The armour on these models is painted to look really dirty and scratched. It is no means my best paint work but they are tabletop...

Horus Heresy Imperial Fists Devastators

It’s been a while since I last painted anything for my Heresy Era Imperial Fists but I’ve had these guys sitting on my desk for a while now and I finally decided to paint them up. I love the fact that in the Horus Heresy Legion army list you can take heavy weapon squads with a every member being able to carry a heavy weapon. I decided to go with missile launchers as this load out is cheap points wise and still quite deadly. This squad is less battle damaged than most of my other Imperial Fist models from this army. I decided to paint them this way to represent that they spend more time on the back line firing from afar rather then getting stuck into the fight like the rest of the...

Erebus and Kor Phaeron

I love the Horus Heresy character series by Forgeworld and having painted up Loken and Abaddon a while back I have finally added to my collection by now painting up Erebus and Kor Phaeron. I will admit I didn’t enjoy painting these as much as Abaddon and Loken and I think the paintjob reflects that a little bit but they did give me a good chance to play around with my airbrush more, especially on the base which I am very happy with. I also airbrushed the basecoats for both models and painted the rest by regular brush. I tried to follow the colours on Forgeworld’s painted examples as much as possible, the biggest difference is I painted Erebus’s hands...

Abaddon and Loken

I’ve recently finished painting Abaddon and Loken from the Forgeworld Horus Heresy character series. I really love these models (okay I admit it, I love all the Forgeworld Horus Heresy stuff) and they were really fun to paint. I’m not a huge fan of the large base that this diorama uses. I painted a few bits in different colours, such as copper pipes, sandstone building just so it wouldn’t look so dull.
